Creating New Places and Spaces
In 1998 work began on plans for the further development of Central Milton Keynes to keep pace with population growth and economic requirements.
Working together, English Partnerships (the national regeneration agency and owners of land in the city centre), Milton Keynes Council (the planning authority) and the CMK Partnership (representing stakeholders) created the CMK Development Framework after consulting with more than 3,500 local people in 2001.
The CMK Development Framework is the blueprint for all developments from the Central Railway Station in the west through to Campbell Park and the Grand Union Canal in the East.
To meet the challenges of the next 30 years, and to continue to attract businesses and people from all over the world, the city must remain imaginative and bold in its development. Milton Keynes is now undertaking an ambitious 30 year programme to create a city of the future.
What this means to Central Milton Keynes (CMK)
This Development Information Sites has been set up by the Central Milton Keynes Partnership to provide you with up-to-date information on developments as they move forward within the Development Framework.
In addition to the Central Milton Keynes Development Framework, Milton Keynes as a whole, was identified as a one of four major growth areas in the South East of England by the Government’s Sustainable Communities Plan in 2003 recognising that Milton Keynes has the potential to become a major regional centre. This work is being led by Milton Keynes Partnership – the partnership between Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Milton Keynes Council and the Local Strategy Partnership (LSP).
